This weekend will see an enticing number of duels all featuring some of the country’s heavyweights, including Gambia wrestling national team captain Leket Bu Barra.
Scheduled to be held at the Serrekunda West mini-stadium, also used as makeshift ground for cracking wrestling matches, Leket who endeared himself to fans with his towering unbeaten record, slugs it out with Balla Star on Sunday.
While he remains feared, pundits believe Leket had gotten himself entangled in a tricky affair after accepting a promoter’s proposal to wrestle Balla Star.
Balla Star is unknown in the domestic championship but has been accumulating a number of victories in Farafenni. Given the fact that he is little known as well as his number of wins, Leket many believe, is in for fiery match.
A day earlier will see Action aims a dagger at Hoyantan.
Enthusiasts in the wrestling circles have been mulling for this contest to be staged for two years spanning in 2014 following Hoyantan’s victory over a much revered Tass-sa-yaram at the Bakau Independence Stadium.
Action also sashayed past Ernest Jatta that season making the pair’s meeting inevitable as well as an exciting proposition. What delayed the two from battling was disagreement over how much each wrestler gets in case of a deal and the fight promoting agency.
However all is now set and done after Alla Wrestling Promotions (AWP) agreed to stage the combat this Saturday.
