Coach Henriksen is over the moon over Bubacarr Sanneh’s decision to stick with the club in their debut season in the Danish Super Liga.
Sanneh, a key part of the club and fans player of the season, is one player whose name featured most in the rumour mill prior to commencement of the domestic top flight league.
Brondby, OB Odense and Esbjerg are one of league juggernauts believed to be gunning for the youngster’s signature.
So strong was the flurry of enquiries by suitors looking to cajole the defender that Sanneh wasn’t expected to stick with Horsens. The situation forced the club, in desperation to retain their prized asset, to bump up the scorpion’s price tag to €300,000 in an effort to ward off clubs.
However it was Bubacarr’s plan to stay a season more with Horsens that eventually poured cold water over the riffed speculations consequently easing off coach Henriksen’s fears of losing out his main man in defence.
‘We’ve managed to keep him (at least a season for this season), and that’s the key for me. We are not forced to have to sell (so quickly to big clubs). I would like to keep him (longer) and Buba also loves his stay in Horsens. We are in no hurry, and he’s in no hurry,’ Bo Henriksen, the man who risked to acquire the then untried stopper initially on loan, told Bold.dk regarding the former Real de Banjul player.
The 21-year-old has scored twice, one of them a brilliant flying header, in three games.
