Ex- Senegalese King of Arena Balla Gaye says offering Tapha Tine a rematch does not interest him with Gris Bordeaux his priority.
Balla is looking to come out of his self-imposed exile from the arena. Branded the moniker, The Lion of Guediawaye, Omar Sakho, his real name, wants a return and has his eyes on Gris Bordeaux who lost to Modou Lo in June.
Promoter Assane Ndiaye suggested Balla face off Tapha Tine in a rematch giving efforts on a Gris Bordeaux duel has proven hard to come by so far.
But Balla, who ended Yekini’s reign as King, is the least keen on that. And reacting after seeing his proposal turned down, promoter Assan Ndiaye said: ‘It’s Balla Gaye 2 who does not want to face Tapha Tine. I contacted him several times, but he says that his only wish is to face Gris Bordeaux. I want him to face Tapha Tine because it is the fight that interests me and also seems to interest people as well’
“It’s not that money is the stumbling block, it’s just a bit of a misunderstanding. It is the decision of Balla Gaye 2 not to face Tapha Tine. Money is not a problem to organize this fight,” the promoter, also staging Bombardier against Eumeu Sene, said.
Balla out-boxed Tapha to his game in 2013 before sending him sprawling on the ground.
