A reliable source has informed this medium that a former Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Mr Mambury Njie who was acquitted and discharged by the Banjul High Court on Thursday, 3 July 2014, has been re-arrested and detained by the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
The source said he was arrested at his residence at Brusubi on Thursday, 9 October, 2014, after 5 days after Tobaski.
According to our source, Mr. Njie is still detained at the NIA headquarters in Banjul without trial.
Asked if any reason is advanced to them regarding his re-arrest, the source said no reason is advanced for his arrest and detention.
Mr Njie was earlier reported to have been re-arrested and detained at the Brusubi Police Station on Tuesday, 25 of February, 2014, after he was granted bail by the Banjul Magistrates’ Court. He was facing charges of economic crime and neglect of official duty at the Banjul High Court.
Justice Mikhail Abdullah of the Criminal Division of the High Court on Thursday, 3rd July acquitted and discharged Mr. Mambury Njie, former Minister of Finance.
