Sources close to the Gambia Police Force yesterday intimated to this paper that Ben Wilson has replaced Mr. Yankuba Sonko as the Inspector General of The Gambia Police Force.
In trying to establish the truth regarding the information, this reporter visited the office of the Public Relations Officer of the said force to shed light on the matter, but he was said to be out of office at the time.
However, he was eventually contacted on cell phone to confirm the appointment of the new IGP, but PRO David Kujabi said he had not received any official confirmation regarding Mr. Wilson’s appointment and for that reason he could not clarify anything at that moment.
Attempt to meet the new IGP for confirmation proved futile, because he was said to be busy in his office.
This reporter further visited the office of the Judicial Secretary, John Belford, to confirm whether the former IGP is now deployed to his department but to no avail, as Belford was said to have other official engagements.
This paper will make a follow up to the Justice department in order to know Mr. Sonko’s designation at the said department and inform readers accordingly.
