Foroyaa has been informed that the workers at the mortuary of the Serekunda General Hospital were invited by the police to give their statements on the matter of the body remains which were exhumed at a site located at the said hospital, as earlier reported.
According to the source, the workers at the mortuary gave their statements at the Kanifing Police station on Wednesday, 17 December, 2014.
When the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the said hospital was approached at his office on Wednesday, 17 December, to comment on the matter, he said they are not responsible for unidentified bodies and directed this reporter to the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC).
The KMC CEO, however, told this reporter that it is only the mayor who can respond to such an issue as chairperson of the hospital board.
When contacted again to shed light on the matter, ASP David Kujabi, Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the Gambia Police Force, said he could not say anything about the incident because it has not come to his knowledge.
On the 10 December 2014, Foroyaa reported the incident of the remains of toddlers that were exhumed at a site behind the mortuary at the Serrekunda General Hospital. The said remains were initially kept at the mortuary before being finally collected in a government 4 wheel pick up vehicle without police escort and taken away for burial.
