Senior Counsel Antouman Gaye intimated to the court that the defence intends to submit a ‘no case to answer’ submission in the criminal trial involving Sheikh Tijan Sosseh, the erstwhile Coordinator of West Africa Agricultural Productivity Project (WAAPP).He said this before Justice Emmanuel Amadi of the Special Criminal Division of the Banjul High Court yesterday, 19 January 2015.
When the case was called, Senior Counsel Gaye, Edward Singhatey and Lamin S. Camara appeared for the accused person, who was also present, while the prosecution was not represented in court.
The trial judge, in his ruling, reminded that he made an order in the last sitting that if the prosecution fails to bring their seventh and last witness, he will close their case.
“Since they are not in court, nor their witness, I hereby close the prosecution’s case and the case is adjourned to the 26th of January, 2015 for defence,” ruled the trial Judge.
