Ali Sowe swaps clubs on transfer deadline day

Sowe’s new move comes after parent club Chievo Verona –a Serie A
club –accepted Latina’s proposal to sign the Gambian.
The deal was brokered Monday evening hours before the close of the transfer windowin Italy. Sowe is expected to join his new club mates
after completing a medical and is unveiled to the press.
Latina’s acquisition of the Gambian successfully bring to an end weeks of
speculation about the forward’s future.
The attacker was with Pescara –another Italian second tier club –but
grew disillusioned over lack of playing time there with other club
forwards preferred in attack.
The situation alerted club side Avellino, but were gazumped to the
deal by Latina who matched Verona’s asking price though undisclosed
but believed to be in the region of one million euros.
His arrival is expected to beef up Latina’s profligacy gripped
attacking force whose squandering of chances sees the club plummet to
21st position, four places above safety.
Sowe who has Chelsea legend Didier Drogba as his football idol, was first
purchased by Chievo Verona from local Gambian club Gamtel –the first
Gambian in the Serie A. The 20-year-old was taken out on loan to
acquire first team experience. He played with Juve-Stabia the entire
of last campaign scoring five times in thirty-four matches.
