When power is not governed by laws, it is exercised without restraint.
Such a power becomes absolute and dangerous.
The shooting of Ya Binta Jarju is a reminder of the need to train allthose who are part of a security apparatus to carry out their duties
in accordance with the dictates of  law and standard of best
practice.  They should take their fellow citizens not like hostages
under their watch but as brothers and sisters under their care.
Sovereignty resides in the people. It is the sovereign person who
should be protected at all times.
