Sana Camara, a Journalist and Senior Reporter with the Standard Journalist Sana CamaraNewspaper in the Gambia, who was arrested and detained by The Gambia police is still reporting to the police without charge since the 27th of June 2014.

Mr. Camara who is on bail following his release from Police custody has again been ordered to report on bail at the Police headquarters on Wednesday, 9th July, which he did. According to him, they asked him to report at the police headquarters in Banjul on 9th July, 2014 which he did, but he was still not released unconditionally.

Readers could recall that Journalist Camara was reportedly arrested on Friday, 27th June, 2014, and detained overnight at the Bundung Police Station, where he was later released on bail.

However, his arrest was said to be in connection with an article, the Standard Newspaper published in its Friday edition of 27th July, 2014, titled “Police ‘admit’ Problems with Human Trafficking,” in which he made reference to a purported interview with the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Gambia Police Force, ASP David Kujabi.
