The proceedings at Brikama Magistrate’s court before Principal Magistrate Dayoh M. Small Dago on 10th July, 2014 witnessed the cross examination of the fourth prosecution witness by Borry Touray after being recalled by the court.
Under cross examination, a police officer who was part of the dispatch sent to arrest the accused persons, told the court that Lamin Jarjue was arrested on that day in question. He added that when the West Coast Region Police Commissioner Benjamin Wilson arrived at the ground, he discussed with Alkalo Jarju aside. He said he did not know whether Alkalo Jarju boarded the same vehicle with Wilson because there were many vehicles, adding he was in front. He also testified that the second accused person Pa Jassey was not arrested on the day.
When the defence lawyer asked him to tell the court the role of the police on someone who does wrong, the witness answered that the role of the Police would be to arrest the individual.
At this juncture, lawyer Touray made an application to file a written address as both parties closed their case.
No objection was made by the prosecution and the application was upheld by the court.
The case is adjourned for the defence to file a written address on the 17th July, 2014 and the prosecution to reply on the 21st of July, 2014.
