Lieutenant Colonel Solo Bojang, a former manager of the Kanilai Family Farms (KFF) and Commanding Officer of the State Guards in Kanilai, who was acquitted and discharged on 12th May 2014 by the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, is still being held by the NIA for 75 days.
The former army officer and manager of Kanilai Family Farms was dragged to court to face charges on four cases including giving false information to a public officer, abuse of office, etc. He was acquitted and discharged in all cases but one. He was convicted on giving false information and accordingly fined D50, 000, an amount which was paid by his family.
He is said to be held by the NIA since his acquittal by Magistrate Dayoh M. Small Dago of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court after an officer in plain clothes escorted him out of the courtroom. He was then whisked away out of the court premises in a waiting vehicle with tinted glasses.
According to family members, the men who took him away told them that they are going to inform the president about his acquittal and discharge and after which they will release him.
The continued unlawful detention of Solo Bojang after he was released by the court is traumatizing the family, said a close relative. The source added that Solo was also the main breadwinner of the family.
They are therefore calling on the authorities to release their love one and allow him to re-unite with his family.
