“Modou Gaye was not pardoned” Says a relative

Mustapha Jallow
A close relative of Modou Gaye, the former Deputy Inspector General of
the Gambia Police (DIGP), who was convicted for life imprisonmentalongside Lt. Gen. Lamg Tombong Tamba, and five others, said their
loved one was not among those pardoned by the president as some have
already started spreading.
Visiting the family home at London Corner in Serekunda, the close
relative told this reporter that people both in the Gambia and abroad
have been calling their pones and mistakenly congratulating
them for the release of Modou.
“In fact, these calls had initially convinced the family that he was
released, but we did not receive any call from any official that he
was pardoned by the president,” he said.

He said the family is taking this opportunity and in the spirit of the
holy month of Ramadan to appeal to the president to pardon their loved
one.
