The whereabouts of the Managing Director of the Sinchu Alagi based Taranga FM radio, Mr Alagi Abdoulie Ceesay, who had gone missing since last week Thursday, 2nd July, 2015, is still not known for five days now.
A family source said Alagi Abdoulie was picked-up by two men in plain clothes believed to be officials of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). It added that their loved one has not returned home since then and they still cannot trace his whereabouts.
They said they have reported the case to the Old Yundum Police Station and are now working with the Gambia Press Union (GPU) in finding out where he is and the reasons behind his arrest and subsequent detention.
His detention beyond 72 hours without access to family or be released is in violation of the Constitution of the Second Republic of The Gambia.
The GPU has issued a statement on Monday, 6th July, demanding for the immediate release of Mr. Ceesay as well as calling on the Inspector General of Police to investigate the disappearance of the Teranga FM Manager and to ensure that he reunites with his family and staff.
