Hatabu Hydara and Muhammed Fadel Hydara, alias Koto Amphal, two brothers from the same family, were picked up at different times on Thursday, 9 July 2015, by security agents at their residence at Sheriff Kunda on Jang Jang Road in London Corner, Serekunda, and whisked away in a tinted four wheel vehicle, according to a close family source.
The source told Foroyaa that the agents, believed to be from the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), first came in the morning around 8 O Clock and took away Muhammed Fadel, the elder brother, and came back again around 2 pm and picked up Hatabu.
The source added that the security agents, as they were taking away the elder Hydara brother, assured the family members that were present not to worry about him as he will soon rejoin them.
“The three security agents came immediately before the 2pm prayers to pick up Hatabu. They went with him to the mosque and after the prayers took him away in their vehicle which has tinted glasses,” revealed the source.
The source also disclosed that the family members have been to the NIA head office in Banjul on several occasions since Thursday but were denied access to enquire about him at the main gate.
“We still do not know anything about the whereabouts of the two brothers and why they were picked up,” said the family source.
It is now more than 72 hours since they have been taken away from their home.
Muhammed Fadel is said to be a ‘marabout’, while the younger brother, Hatabu, is said to be running an Islamic charity organization.
