Since 2011 the Border Commission has been grappling with contradictory claims whether Tranquil village falls within the Gambian or Senegalese border.

Troops from both sides are waiting from their political leaders to come to a final decision on the issue. The people in the vicinity are concerned about the movement of troops from both sides. They are demanding swift action by the authorities to prevent any conflict.

The villagers are uncertain of their fate and would like to know who should provide development for them. One could see electric poles and cables in Banta Nyima some four hundred meters away from Tranquil while the bitumen road from Dasilami did not reach tranquil.

Hence tranquil is left in the outskirt without a clear future. Speedy action is needed to decide its fate.
