BUBA CEESAY CLOCKS 4 WEEKS IN DETENTION

A senior Customs Officer, Mr Buba Ceesay, has now been in detentionBuba Ceesay
without trial at the headquarters of the National Intelligence Agency
(NIA) for four weeks now.
Mr Ceesay who is attached to Banjul International Airport was arrested
on 24 August, 2015, according to a close source.The young man who is residing at Tabokoto is still held behind bars
without release or arraignment before a court of law in contravention
of the constitution which demands that an arrestee be either taken to
court or released within 72 hours.
Our information is that though the authorities have allowed family
members to be taking food and other basic needs for him, the reason
for his arrest and detention is yet to be made known to them.
According to earlier reports, a family source told Foroyaa that Mr.
Ceesay was arrested on Monday, 24 August, 2015, while he was on the
verge of travelling out of the country on a mission when he received a
phone call from someone who asked him to report at the airport. The
source added that he was picked up immediately upon his arrival and
taken to the NIA headquarters in Banjul, where he is still held.
However, a family source said they are still pleading to the
authorities to release their loved one.
