GFF-The Gambia Football Federation has finally received signals that the proposed Mawade Wade tournament would now go ahead in Senegal slated from the 3rd November, 2015. This new date was communicated to the GFF by WAFU General Secretary Jammeh EK Bojang. The Gambia has been preparing for the event since last month with a series of warm up matches with an assembled squad of local based players which the tournament is meant for. The local charges are under the technical guidance of U-20 Head Coach Omar Ceesay.
The team had its latest friendly match against Brikama United FC last week where they lost by the narrowest of margins One nil at the Box Bar Mini stadium. Another planned warm up game will be played at the Banjul Mini Stadium on Wednesday 28th October, 2015 against Banjul United FC. This according to the Officials would be the final test game as the tournament gears much closer.
Further sources close to the WAFU Secretariat in Bakoteh have hinted that the draw for the St Louis edition would be held on Thursday 29th October, 2015 in Dakar. Five countries are expected to take part in the tournament.
The Gambia will release its full squad and delegation to the tournament in the coming days.
