U-20 COACH LABELS S/LEONE DRAW FAIR -Confident of qualification

By Sulayman Bah

Gambia U-20s tactician Omar Sise yesterday told Foroyaa Sport he is confident of qualifying, describing the Gambian coach Omar Siseteam’s preliminary round draw with Sierra Leone as ‘fair’.

The Young Scorpions got drawn with the Leone Stars in seeding held reportedly last week in Rwanda’s populous administrative capital, Kigali.

The continental Orange youth championship scheduled to be staged in Zambia –featuring mainly players below the twenty age bracket – next year will see Gambia officially return to the fold after a two-year suspension for fielding ineligible players.

However, ahead of the must-win double-legged tie, Sise, the team’s head coach, is buoyed of getting past this hurdle, qualifier proper, to book a place in the group stage.

“We accept what we get (the draw with Sierra Leone),” he said reacting to the draw before adding on questions whether the team could qualify, ‘Why not.’

The first-tie is billed for 1, 2 or 3rd April before playing the return leg a fortnight later.

Gambia needs to jettison off Sierra Leone to face Morocco for the final round to be played between May and June.
