Human Rights : Gambians in Sweden Form Human Rights Group

Gambians in Sweden have formed a human rights group called HUMAN RIGHTS FOR ALL (HUMRA) on 11 November 2009, a press release issued by the group revealed.
The group aims at campaigning, reporting and documenting human rights abuses and violations in the Gambia and Africa as a whole.

The group indicated that the continued human rights violations in the Gambia have motivated them to take it as their national duty to first inform, link up and mobilise the Gambian community in Sweden to join our countrywomen and men to campaign for an end to human rights violations in The Gambia.

HUMRA outlines its aims as follows:

1. TO MONITOR, RESEARCH AND INVESTIGATE HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES IN THE GAMBIA;
2. DOCUMENT AND PUBLISH INFORMAION ON HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES;
3.TO DOCUMENT AND REPORT ATTACKS ON ALL HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS;
4. TO INFORM OUR COMMUNITIES AND THE MEDIA ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES;
5. TO COLLABORATE WITH OTHER INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS.
