Bakau and SK West made it through to the shortlist of the Muhammed Jammeh sponsored super nawettan zonal championship, after grinding out a 1-1 stalemate at the SK East mini-stadium.
SK West broke Bakau resistance as early as in the 6th minute of the first-half to smack in the opening goal through midfielder Mamut Saine’s glancing header to the back of the net. But Bakau levels matters later in the 48th minute as prolific hot shot Assan Jatta restored pride for his side in a Serrekunda-Bakau derby as both sides needed only to avoid a stumbling defeat to book their places into the next phase of the super nawettan.

Forward Alasana Camara should have put Bakau one stamp ahead of West, when midfielder Demba Sanyang’s pass found Jatta, who chested it down and land a through ball for Alasana Camara. Camara guarded his marker and forced SK West deeper to a scary save outside the box.
New entrant Baka impact in the game for the West outfit hardly paid off, as by partnership Dawda Sambou failed through down the right side of the wing.
Minutes later, playmaker Sambou was shown his marching order for dining in the 68th minute. But Bakau still found it a hard nut to crack a ten-man west. Boto Manneh was hard to be substituted to consolidate the middle of the park as the opponents kept surging forward.
The Bakau galore man had to keep of another scary save which he palmed away. Mamut Saine’s goal bound howler for a corner kick as pressure intensified. The resultant corner kick almost inflicted trouble and the goalkeeper had to smash the ball to save their heads.
Demba Sanyang also got himself red card at elapsing minute of time thus twisting the game on its tail.
