Gambians in Sweden have formed a human rights group called HUMAN RIGHTS FOR ALL (HUMRA) on 11 November 2009, a press release issued by the group revealed. The group aims at campaigning, reporting and documenting human rights abuses and violations in the Gambia and Africa as a whole.
The executive committee of the Network of Human Rights Journalists (NHRJ) The Gambia is once again renewing their call for the immediate release of missing journalist Chief Ebrima B. Manneh, a Senior Journalist and Columnist of the Daily Observer Newspaper, who went missing since July, 2006, after leaving his home for work. He was said to have been picked up at his office by plain clothed security agents. Since then his whereabouts are yet unknown.
A complaint lodged by Mr. Alex Allie to the African Commission, a Sierra Leonean national, against the government of Senegal to the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights (ACHPR), seeking for redress on a particular matter, was not tabled as was promised by the Commission at its recently concluded 45th Ordinary Session in Banjul,.
